Wisconsin Livestock Identification Consortium (WLIC)

The Wisconsin Premises Registration Act requires anyone who keeps, houses, or co-mingles livestock to register their premises.

WLIC is a multi-species effort led by Wisconsin’s livestock and industry organizations in cooperation with DATCP, USDA, and UW-Extension. Premises registration is the foundation for a national animal ID trace back system.

A database of locations where livestock are produced, raised, and kept will aid animal health officials. For online premise registration or for more information visit the following site, http://www.datcp.state.wi.us/premises/index.jsp

Siting Livestock Operations

On April 13, 2004, Governor Doyle signed a new law that strikes a balance between growing animal agriculture, protecting the environment, and respecting local decision making. The new law, 2003 Wisconsin Act 235 directs the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection to develop a rule that provides a predictable framework for county and municipal decisions to site or expand livestock facilities. Wisconsin’s Farm Equipment Custom Rate Guide

The 2017 Wisconsin Custom Rate Guide was compiled by the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS), Wisconsin Field Office, in cooperation with the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection, the University of Wisconsin-Extension, and the College of Agricultural & Life Sciences, University of Wisconsin-Madison.

This summary is the result of a mail survey which collected rates paid by farmers for custom work performed in 2017. The figures are based on reports by farmers who hired custom work, custom operators and farmers who performed custom work, and machinery dealers who rented out equipment. There were 707 reports compiled. Click here for the Custom Rate Guide:Custom Rate Guide
