Wisconsin Livestock Identification Consortium (WLIC)
|

The Wisconsin
Premises Registration Act requires anyone who keeps,
houses, or co-mingles livestock to register their premises.
WLIC is a multi-species
effort led by Wisconsin’s livestock and industry organizations
in cooperation with DATCP, USDA, and UW Extension.
Premises registration is the foundation for a national animal
ID trace back system.
A database of locations where livestock are produced, raised,
and kept will aid animal health officials. For online premise

Siting Livestock Operations

On April 13, 2004, Governor Doyle signed a new law that strikes a balance between growing animal agriculture, protecting the environment, and respecting local decision making.The new law, 2003 Wisconsin Act 235 directs the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection to develop a rule that provides a predictable framework for county and municipal decisions to site or expand livestock facilities.
